The TshirtJihad.com “tshirt factory” is a family operation located in idyllic Northern Michigan, situated amidst the largest reserve of the most critical natural resource of the 21st Century: fresh water. You may have been thinking “oil,” but that is actually a luxury not even mentioned on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs…and that is the start of a conversation best left to our blog. Right now we’re here to discuss who we are and what we’re about…and you must be at least a little interested, otherwise you wouldn’t have clicked that nifty little “About Us” tab, right?

As we were saying, we’re a family operation, which includes Uncle Metal Head and Aunt Cosa, their nephew Evol Kire and his wife Gatita Mala, plus two Labrador Retrievers and a baby boy who we like to call Butters. We are Returned Peace Corps Volunteers from the Dominican Republic; we are Christian and Catholic, conservative, liberal, progressive, Libertarian and Crunchy Con; we are a journalist, an academic, a wealth advisor, a restaurant owner and entrepreneurs (all)...and we all originally hail from Cincinnati, Ohio…except one of the labs, he’s from the Caribbean.

In essence, we’re a collaborative effort, so we’re not going to give you the lowdown on our individual hobbies and favorite links…as if you care anyway. But you may be interested to know that we create our own designs and print our own tshirts, and we ship them out from “the factory” with lots of TLC.

Have you ever sat around bantering with your friends and someone retorts with such a witty quip that you think, “That would make a great tshirt.” Well, that’s exactly how we operate. One day we are sitting around laughing at our own mental prowess and the next day the design is posted on TshirtJihad.com for your purchasing consideration.

In our own random way, we are taking up the “righteous struggle” to promote the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness by countering the ongoing jihad being waged by Islamic fundamentalists on our American way of life, as unrighteous as that way can be sometimes. We all know that we Americans are far from perfect, but there has to be a way to enlighten each other through the exchange of ideas instead of violence: WORDS NOT SWORDS. Therefore, we give everyone a soap box to stand on…a forum where you can say your piece to the world…simply by wearing a cool tshirt…and not cause anyone bodily harm (unless you count the children working in some Third World textile sweat shop making the tees that we sell…just kidding.)

Speaking of sweat shops, this leads us to another important topic: social entrepreneurship. There are all kinds of ways that corporations can be socially responsible these days, especially by selling goods that are produced in an Earth-friendly fashion or that actually benefit the hard-working members of real Third World communities.
