There is no doubt about it. We live a radioactive world. And since this is the case, we have united the universal symbol with a whole lot of languages. Did you know that the original symbol was magenta on a blue background? That's because it was first used in Berkeley in the University of California's radiation laboratory. Maybe one of our next political tshirts should read.... 'Everything's better in Berkeley.' Or possibly, our next funny tshirt should be the radioactive warning symbol in it's original colors? The magenta and blue idea just softens it enough to lull you into a passive pose while the 'Lost in Space' robot is waving his arms like crazy, shouting "Warning, Will Robinson!!!" In an even more interesting little-known factoid, this symbol is considered a trefoil... you know, like the Girl Scout cookies. In fact, the trefoil is the Girl Scout symbol because the three-leaved aspect represents the three-fold promise of the Girls Scouts. The trefoil is symbolic of Ireland too because of its' cute little shamrock. No idea at all what any of this has to do with this political tshirt. It's just really kinda cool to know how this stuff originates and that wearing this political tee can help you put it all together in a metaphysical way. Radioactive warning equals hazardous, equals three leaves of danger, equals a trefoil which should be magenta and blue to make it nicer. And then last, but not least comes this political t-shirt in some politically-charged languages (like Korean), and it all somehow works together in the circle of life and is linked to the three-fold Girl Scout promise. Yeah, yeah, that's what it all means. Talk about six degrees of Wikipedia separation! |
